Open-source software (OSS) is computer software with its source code made available and licensed with a license in which the copyright holder provides the rights to study, change and distribute the software to anyone and for any purpose. Open-source software is very often developed in a public, collaborative manner. Open-source software is the most prominent example of open-source development and often compared to (technically defined) user-generated content or (legally defined) open-content movements.

In our opinion, there is many reason why people prefer open source software over proprietary alternatives nowadays. One of them is that, open source software is easily available to the public and it is usually free. Apart from that, open source licenses grant licensees the right to copy, modify and redistribute source code (or content). Also, open source have a very fast fixes for bugs and security exploits, and it is very fast upgrades to new releases than compare to proprietary software. Besides, open source software have a faster implementation.
